Randy & Kathy Cartwright
About the Cartwright's
Randy: “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
Kathy: “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)
Randy and Kathy are the newest missionary couple to join Rural Compassion’s team. (In fact, the day this interview took place was their first day on the job.) However, Randy and Kathy have served in a ministerial capacity for thirty years, and have a deep love for rural churches and the pastors who serve them. While serving in Illinois, Randy and Kathy started their own ministry, “Shift Ministries,” that served pastors and churches in transition. Divine providence brought them to Springfield, where the connected with Steve Donaldson and were given the opportunity to share their skills developed in Illinois on a larger scale.
“We’re doing this because we want to encourage, strengthen, enable, equip and give hope to those who are giving their lives in service of the Word. We want to let those pastors know that someone cares. It’s a hard calling, with at least 1700 pastors leaving the ministry each month. And those serving in rural communities often feel forgotten. We want to tell them, ‘We know you’re there. We see the value in you and in what you’re doing."
